U11A Cup
Villa 5 Dungarvan 2

Our U11A team qualified for the cup semi final with a 5-2 win over a gallant Dungarvan team. This game was moved to St Otterans and the high grass made it difficult for both teams. We played well in the first half and took a 4-0 lead through Aaron O' Connor (2) David Hobbs and Tommy Power. We could have been further ahead at half time if our final ball was better. We changed things around at half time. Dungarvan came back into the game with 2 second half goals but James Coad scored a fine individual goal to leave the final score 5-2.

Tramore 3 Villa 0

We then bowed out of the cup at the semi final stage going down 3-0 after extra time to a much physically bigger Tramore team. In normal time this was an excellent game of football with each team creating chances. We had the first opportunity of the game when Aaron O' Connor was put through but the ball was cleared by an alert Tramore defence. Our defending was excellent with Craig Brown, Tommy Power, Greg Milne, Roy Butler and Dylan McGuire to fore against the physically stronger Tramore forwards. In the 2nd half the game went from end to end and we had 2 penalty claims turned down. We were forced into changes as some of our u12 players who had just returned from Holland were showing signs of fatigue. Adam Doyle was working his socks off in midfield, Ryan Phillips forced the Tramore keeper into a fine save and at the other end Brian Cunningham somehow cleared a goal bound shot off the line. Both teams were feeling the strain as the game went into extra time on the very big St Otterans pitch. The first goal was going to be vital and it fell to Tramore in the first period of extra time when a shot from a Tramore midfielder hit a divet and ended up in the net. Our lads were on their last legs and we lost our defensive stalwart Craig Brown who had a tremendous game marshelling the very big Tramore forward. This forward went onto score 2 further goals in the 2nd period of extra time. Good luck to Tramore in the U11 final but our lads are looking forward to their last league game versus the same opposition which will decide who wins the league.

U14A League
Southend 0 Villa 4

An excellent result from our lads in this top of the table clash. A very early og gave us the confidence to take the game to Southend. A very good game of football and although the scoreline looks like an easy victory - there is no such thing against Southend. Our further 3 goals cam from Jonathan McEvoy, Kevin Flynn and Kenneth McEvoy. We still have a lot of games to play in this league but having taken 6 points from Southend who are vying for the title, it puts us in a very strong position, with all to play for.

U14A Cup
Bohs 1 Villa 2

Another great victory for our U14A team in the first round of the cup last Saturday in Wadding Park. We were without a few of our first team regulars and had to make a few tactical switches. We did progress to the next round of the cup with our goals coming from an og and Daniel Aherne was the hero for Villa netting the winner with just a couple of minutes to go.

U16A League
Villa 2 Ferrybank 0

After suffering two defeats recently we desperately needed to gain 3 points and keep our title challenge on track.

We started better than in recent games but not as well as our visitors and perhaps the winning of the game occurred in the opening 15 minutes when Rob Bresnan made two fantastic saves to deny both Kenny Moore and Mikey Byrne from taking the lead. These were truly world class saves that demoralised the visitors.

Spurred on by this, we gradually found our feet and started to take control of the game. We took the lead from a corner kick from Kevin Feely with 5 mins remaining in the first half. His in-swinging corner was headed goal ward by Craig Nugent and after several attempts, Jack Gaule fired home.

Half-time allowed us a chance to sort things out and the second half performance was probably our best of the season and the only surprise was having to wait until 5 minutes from time to add out second, but what an excellent goal it was. Aaron Molloy played a through ball for Jack Gaule, whose sublime first touch, forced the keeper to rush out and he lifted it over him and into an empty net to secure the win.

A great team performance and it is no surprise that now we are playing again regularly, we are improving rapidly. It is just a shame that for 5 months we played just twice, something the league will need to look at for next season.

We are now 1 point behind the leaders with 3 games to go, so we have every chance of winning what is probably the toughest schoolboy league this season.

Premier (Ardagh) Cup Semi Final Villa 3 Dungarvan 1

We booked our place in the Ardagh Cup final with a win over Dungarvan in Ozier Park. A scoreless first half saw little in the way of clear chances. That changed early in the second half as two goals from Conor McDonald in the third and sixth minutes of the half set us on our way. We had further chances to put the game beyond reach but endured a nervous few minutes at the end when Dungarvan pulled a goal back with eight minutes left. On the final whistle Paul Omatoso made it 3-1.

Premier Cup Final

The Premier Cup final takes place in Ozier Park on Friday at 7pm. We encourage all club members to support the team.

Under 15 League Villa B 2 Portlaw 2

An entertainng game between evenly matched teams. Barry Power gave us the lead but this was levelled by the visitors. Portlaw took a second half lead but a terrific strike from Aaron Galibert with just a minute left ensured a share of the points.
