Danone Cup
Our U11 team qualified for the regional finals of the Danone cup with a penalty shoot out win over Carrick. The game finished 1 all with the Villa goal coming from Aaron O' Connor. We won on penalties with good efforts from David Hobbs, Tommy Power and Roy Butler with Darragh Collopy saving the crucial penalty. We would like to thank Carrick for their sporting gesture in replaying the game as the original game was abandoned due to an injury to one of our players. We headed to Campile last Sunday and we were drawn in a very tough group. We had 3 draws against Gorey Rangers, Vale Wanderers and Clonmel Town but we lost against Evergreen after taking the lead. 3 points was not enough to qualify for the final but our lads enjoyed the day with all players getting plenty of football.

U13A League
Seaview 0 Villa 2

We travelled to Seaview for a tough game with only the bare 11 players due to illness, injury and hurling commitments. However if Seaview thought they were going to get an easy game they had another thing coming to them. We started very brightly and both Niall McCabe and Walter Croke were unlucky not to score after some good work from Kenneth McEvoy. We eventually opened the scoring with a 25 yard scorcher from Conor Coad which crashed in off the post. The Seaview keeper then made 2 good saves as we spurned chance after chance. Seaview attacked but Austin Gleeson and Jamie Cross covered everything and Brandon O'Callaghan commanded everything in the box. Evan O'Donnell at right back played very well, tackling and using the ball to our midfielders and overlapped to put in some great crosses. Another player to impress was Mark Walsh working very well in tandem with Danny Aherne and those two players teamed up with some great interplay for Danny to score a super second goal. We broke from a Seaview corner with a tremendous run from Gavin O'Donovan and were unlucky not to score a third just on half time.
The second half was very much the same, Evan retired with a sprained ankle and some players tired but every one played good possession football and we stamped out every threat Seaview presented. Well done to everyone especially all the u-12 players who are showing that they are more than capable at this level. Next game 30th April against Ferrybank in the Semi final of the cup. Also Cooley was at the game rearing to go!

U15A League
Villa A 1 Bohs 1

We shared the points with Bohs in this top of the table clash. We took the lead through Eoin Kindlon who scored a beauty from the right hand side and caught the Bohs keeper off guard.
Bohs equalised later on in the game and overall a share of the points was probably a fair result. A very even game all through and some good football was played by both sides.

Under 15 League
Dunmore 0 Villa B 2

We ensured some early pressure against the conditions early in the first half but then started to put some nice moves together. The introduction of Aaron Galibert and Kevin Flynn early in the second half gave us an extra edge and Aaron's pass set up Kenny Patterson for the first goal. Aaron's free-kick, ten minutes later, was well finished by Mark Hobbs to make the game safe.

Well Done
To the Waterford Under 14,15,16 and Youth League teams who all qualified for their respective national finals at the weekend.

Congrats
Well done to our U13 player Conor Coad on winning this months News & Star Player of the month in the U11-U13 age group. Conor is the 3rd Villa player to win this monthly award this year after Evan O Donnell and Adam Potter already had earlier successes.
