U11A League Villa 1 Ferrybank 2
Our U11A team lost their undefeated league record when they were beaten 2-1 by an improved Ferrybank team. The first half was a scrappy affair with both defences on top and little goalmouth action. We had a goal disallowed when a Tommy Power corner went straight into the net but it was disallowed for a foul on the Ferrybank goalkeeper. Ferrybank went ahead on the stroke of half time when we gave their left full too much time to control a ball and he shot from 30 yards into the top of the net. In the first few minutes of the second half we conceded a penalty which Darragh Collopy came very close to saving. Ferrybank were now 2 up with 20 mins to play. Our lads reacted strongly and bombarded the Ferrybank goal for the remainder of the game. Brian Cunningham was introduced and he made some telling passes around the Ferrybank box. Ryan Phillips went close on a number of occasions. The Ferrybank goalkeeper made some great saves during this period and one save from an Aaron O' Connor shot really stood out. We eventually pulled a goal back through Aaron O' Connor but it was too late and Ferrybank held out for a 2-1 win. While our lads were disappointed with the result they are looking forward to playing the return league game with Ferrybank next week. We have 2 games left in the league and need to win both .
U11C League Villa B 8 Ferrybank 1
We played a rearranged fixture against Ferrybank on Easter Monday morning and continued our winning streak with a scoreline of 8 – 1. It was a game we dominated from start to finish without ever looking in trouble. Our defensive unit seem to be getting better with each game and snuffed out nearly every chance before it could develop. Our passing at times in this match was top class and as good as the lads have ever produced. The pick of the goals in this match would have to be Luke Fitzgeralds 25 yard screamer. He broke from midfield headed for goal at struck an unstoppable shot past the keeper. This was a solid performance and it sets the lads up nicely for their next match against Carrick.

U11C League Villa B 3 Carrick Utd. 2
Our Under 11B team continued their excellent results this season with a 3-2 win at home to Carrick. This match was extremely enjoyable to watch with both teams giving their all. We started well and dominated possession for most of the first period. We opened the scoring through Ryan O Higgins who gave a display of centre forward play constantly linking up with the midfield especially Dylan Walsh on the right. Dylan Walsh netted our second half way through the first half with a very good finish at the near post placing the ball between keeper and post. We continued to create clear chances throughout the first half but failed to finish them. Just before half time Callum ONiell skipped past his marker on the left and from 20 yards and a tight angle hit a super shot which came back of the cross bar to Ryan who had done what all good strikers do and followed in the shot and was rewarded with a simple finish to make it 3 – 0 at half time. We made four changes and after the break we continued as before. Carrick certainly were not going to roll over and they pressed and pressed. Carrick scored twice late in the half to set up a grand slam finish but our back four were fantastic with Jack McCarthy clearing all that came his way. Carrick almost got an equaliser twice in the last few minutes but Adam Doheny was covering behind his centre backs on both occasions and snuffed out the danger just a few yards from goal. The lads really enjoyed this match and the dressing room was buzzing afterwards, hats off to Carrick who gave us one of our toughest tests of the season.
Goal Scorers : Dylan Walsh(1), Ryan O’Higgins(2)
Best for Villa : Ryan O`Higgins & Adam Doheny.
U13A League Villa 4 Ferrybank 2
Our U13 team played host to Ferrybank last Thursday evening in Connors Park. Although we were missing a couple of key players and were very short on the line, the lads gave an encouraging performance after a slow start. Our hero of the game was Walter Croke who scored a Hat trick and the other goal came from a Conor Coad free kick.
Premier League Villa 1 Tramore 0
A second half goal from Paul Omatoso was enough to secure all three points and ensure that we finish with our highest points total since promotion in 2005.
Under 15 League Villa B 0 De La Salle 1
This was a very tight game throughout and the only goal of the game came five minutes before half-time. We stuck at our task in the second period and had one good opportunity to level but De La Salle were solid at the back.
Speedy Recovery
We wish our U13/U14 player David Cooley a speedy recovery. David has been instrumental for us on both teams and also is part of the Waterford Kennedy Cup Squad. He had an Appendix operation last Thursday and has just returned home from hospital, so here’s hoping he will recover quickly and get back out there in the Green and White as soon as possible.
