U11A League
Villa A 5 DLS 1

Our U11A maintained their challenge for the league with a convincing 5-1 win over an improving DLS team. We played against the strong breeze in the first half and we played some good football in the opening half. We opened the scoring after 3 mins when a ball from Tommy Power put Aaron O' Connor through and Aaron made no mistake from the edge of the box. We were dominating midfield at this stage with some good work from David Hobbs, James Coad and Adam Doyle but Tommy Power was dictating the game with a man of the match performance from the left of midfield. Ryan Phillips used his explosive pace to put us 2 up with a well taken goal. Aaron O' Connor added a third shortly after and Craig Brown added the fourth following a good free kick from Tommy Power. DLS pulled a goal back when a long free kick went the whole way into the Villa goal. Dylan McGuire and Brian Cunningham were introduced at half time and both worked very hard in the 2nd half. Colin Barry came more into the game at left back in the 2nd half and made some accurate passes. Adam Doyle scored our 5th goal with a left foot shot from the edge of the box. The DLS keeper had an inspired 2nd half where he made some excellent saves. Overall a good performance from our lads who now have 3 games left in the league. A word of thanks to Mark Lucas who referred the game at short notice as yet again the nominated ref did not turn up.

Premier League Wat.Crystal 1 Villa 1

For the second week in succession we dented the hopes of a title contender. Crystal took a first half lead against the strong breeze and only had a one goal lead at the break thanks to some fine saves from Liam Kavanagh. We turned the game around in the second half and with eight minutes of the half played Ian Cantwell's excellent pass found Jimmy Barry who took his chance well. Both sides had a number of chances in an open half but at the end it was a point apiece.

Youth League Villa 4 Wat. Crystal 6

An understrength side put on a brave performance against Wat. Crystal in our final league game. Danny Walsh (2), Darren White and an o.g. were our scorers.

Adam Potter

Well done to Under 14 player Adam Potter who was selected for an International Trial in Dublin on Sunday. This is well deserved recognition of an excellent season for Adam.
