U11A League
De La Salle 0 Villa 4

Our U11 team played away to De La Salle last weekend. Conditions were not good and the bumpy pitch did not help our passing game. We played against the strong wind in the 1st half and we played some good football in the opening half. We opened the scoring through Aaron O' Connor in the 10th minute when he lobbed the advancing DLS goalkeeper Some nice passing set up Tommy Power for a well taken 2nd goal shortly before half time. The DLS goalkeeper made some good saves during the 1st half to prevent the Villa increasing our lead. We played the 2nd half with the benefit of a strong wind but our final ball was poor on a number of occasions. We increased our lead through a fine shot from the edge of the penalty area by David Hobbs. Brian Cunningham added our 4th goal in the last minute. Overall we did not play to the high standards that we have set in our previous 2 games. Greg Milne gave a man of the match performance at centre half. Credit must be given to DLS for a very good game. We would also like to thank Dave Phillips for referring the game.

U11C League
Carrick 1 Villa 4

On Saturday morning our 11B team played our first match in six weeks against Carrick and put in a solid performance to run out 4 -1 winners.
The lads had been chomping at the bit in training this week in anticipation for this encounter, however the six week break showed as early in the game the passing game was a bit rusty.
Despite this we had the better of the play in the first half and we put together some fine moves which resulted in several good goal scoring chances. The best of these was created by some slick passing, the ball found its way to the feet of Ryan O`Higgins who skipped past the defender and sent a low left foot drive past the keeper only to see his effort come back off the base of the upright.
Dillon Griffin was unlucky on two occasions with two well struck free kicks which went very close. It was however Carrick who opened the scoring against the run of play with one of the only shots they were allowed by our very tight defence.
Our response was almost immediate as we went straight on the attack, one of these attacks led to a corner from the right hand side. Luke Fitzgerald put a superb ball right into the centre of the penalty area which was met by Dylan Walsh to level the scoring
We dominated the rest of the play with Aiden having no saves of note to make as the defence seemed determined not to concede another goal.
It was set pieces which were to be the undoing of Carrick as we scored our next two goals from corners. For the first Luke Fitzgerald again sent a superb delivery into the box and this time centre forward Ryan O`Higgins did get on the scoresheet. For the second Luke’s delivery was again spot on and he found Michael Roache who stabbed home number three.
Great approach play and a good lay off from substitute Hayden Gallibert saw Robert coolly slot away the ball which takes his tally to three goals in the last three matches
In all a solid performance where we improved as the game went on, the effort the lads put in during training was there to see. Our next match is in two weeks time against Ferrybank so hopefully there will be no time to get rusty again.

Goal Scorers : Dylan Walsh, Robert Ryan, Ryan O`Higgins, Michael Roache

Best for Villa : Luke Fitzgerald & Dillon Griffin

U13A League
Hibs 1 Villa 1

Its hard to believe that we were happy to get a 1-1 draw at Hibs on Saturday. In a game we dominated up to the penalty box , we could not find the net and with 3 mins left we were still 1 down.
The game started late , but we were quick out of the blocks , but missed numerous chances and the Hibs Keeper make some great saves. Nil all at half time , the second half was more of the same with Villa attacking and Hibs battling hard , fighting for every ball and against the run of play Hibs got reward for their determined attitude. A long range free kick ,hopped in the six yard box , 4 villa defenders waited for each other, but the Hibs forward struck the ball high into the roof of the net , giving Brandon no chance . We kept attacking , but at no stage was it controlled , and this suited the defenders. However this Villa team has more than just skill , they are great battlers and with 3 mins to go and after numerous misses , and saves from Hibs keeper , up popped Dave Cooley and playing captains role finished a sweeping move by placing the ball past a stranded keeper. Even in the last 3 mins we had 3 more clearcut chances but failed to convert Next match versus Clonmel Town in SFAI and we will need to take every chance if we want to progress further. Best for Villa Tom Mull ally & Conor Sheehan.

U15A League
Southend 1 Villa 5

Under 15 League
Villa B 3 Mooncoin 2

A hard fought victory to keep our recent run of form going Kevin Flynn gave us a first half lead with an excellent strike before Aaron Galibert scored from the penalty spot to make it 2-0. Mooncoin pulled one back before the break but a second from Kevin extended the lead. Again Mooncoin pulled a goal back but our defence played very well to keep them out and we earned a good three points

Youth League
De La Salle A 2 Villa 4

We went a goal down early in the game but Fergus McDonald levelled. Danny Walsh made it 2-1 but the home side levelled before another from Fergus and a goal from Aaron Molloy gave us the points.
