An excellent week for the Villa as all our teams playing progressed through to the third round of their relevant National Cups.

U11 SFAI Cup
Villa 5 Peakevilla 0

Our U11 team qualified for the next round of the SFAI cup with a comprehensive 5-0 victory over Peakevilla from Thurles. We got off to a flying start with a well taken goal from Ryan Phillips. Our lads dominated the remainder of the half but the final pass was leaving us down. With 5 mins remaining in the 1st half a fine through ball from Colin Barry set up Aaron O' Connor to make the score 2-0 in favour of the Villa at half time. The quality of our passing improved in the 2nd half and further goals were scored by Ryan Phillips, David Hobbs and Brian Cunningham. A special mention must be given to our defence Roy Butler, Greg Milne, Craig Brown, Stephen Doheny and Darragh Collopy who kept their first clean sheet of the season. We are now through to play Freebooters from Kilkenny in the next round of the SFAI cup on Sat 1st Dec in Connors Park. We will have to continue our good attitude to training as bigger challenges lie ahead for this team.

U13 SFAI Cup
St Michaels 1 Villa 4

We travelled to Tipp Town to play local side St Michaels in 2nd round of SFAI cup. A big open pitch ,good surface and fine weather should have suited our style of play but a big St Michaels team and some early misses from us meant the game was still very close after 20 mins. Kenneth McEvoy opened the scoring, no more than he deserved after some great runs down the wing. Danny Aherne scored a great second off the crossbar but then we lost our way . The defence played very well, Conor Sheehan taking over from injured Walter Dunphy, Austin Gleeson who got injured after a great tackle. Jamie and Christian did well with Gavin, Cooley and Conor Coad working hard in midfield. Up front Walter Croke battled hard and showed some nice touches before finishing off a great move by scoring with another diving header ( his speciality) 3-nil at half time. In the 2nd half St Michaels put in a big effort and had 2 good chances , which Brandon kept out before Conor Coad scored our 4th.Our hosts scored a deserved goal but our defence must take some blame as they appeared to have gone asleep . Mark Walsh ,Evan O'Donnell and Kareem Abdou came on and livened up the game , Mark and Evan combining well on 2 occasions and both unlucky not to score . Kareem put in some good hard tackles in midfield , something missing from our game up to that. 4-1 it finished and our next round game is away to Clonmel Town. As I said after last game we will need to play for 60 mins if we are to progress to the open draw..

U15 SFAI Cup
Southend 0 Villa 5

U15 League
Dunmore 2 Villa B 5

We went three goals up in the first half with Stuart Quilty opening the scoring, followed by goals from Ben Cross and Jonathan O'Brien. We lost our way after that and the home side scored twice to make it 3-2 at half time We got back on track in the second half and goals from Jonathan and Paul Mates completed a good win.

U15 League
Ballyduff 3 Villa B 3

These teams always produce eventful games. The home side dominated first half possession but we took the lead when Jonathan O'Brien was on hand to slot home Kevin Flynn's cross. We went two ahead when Aaron Galibert cooly slotted home. Ballyduff got back into the game with two quick goals but another goal from Aaron gave us the lead again. Ballyduff don't give up and levelled again and then had their 'keeper to thank as he saved a penalty with a couple of minutes remaining. Excellent performances from Stuart Quilty up front and Ciaran Purcell at left full were noteable in an excellent overall performance.

1B League
Tramore 0 Villa 2

John Waddell gave us a first half lead in a tight encounter. Ian Crowley doubled the advantage in the second half capping an excellent individual performance.

3rd Division
Bolton 1 Villa 4

Charlie Jordan opened the scoring from the penalty spot. Neil Harte with a superb 30 yard drive made it 2-0. Neil came off a couple of minutes later satisfied with his day's work. Bolton pulled a goal back but another from Charlie and a well taken goal from David Cuddihy wrapped up the points.

FAI Youth Cup
Villa 5 Deen Celtic 2

The visitors looked very strong in the early stages of this game and deserved their early lead. We came back strongly and Paddy Davies levelled From there we took over and a Danny Walsh hat-trick and a Fergus McDonald goal gave us easy passage to the next round.
