U12A League Villa A 7 v 1 Tramore Our U-12 team recorded a fine win away to Tramore on Saturday morning. as is always the case we were expecting a tough game in Tramore so we needed to start quickly and continue to play for the 60 minutes. This we did taking control of the game early on and creating chances. We took the lead when a fine cross from Mark Walsh down the right was headed home by Evan O Donnell. Evan extended our lead when put through and finished superbly. We continued to stay on top and further goals from Evan O Donnell (hatrick) and Tadgh Whelan gave us a comfortable half time lead. After a slow start to the second half in which Tramore pulled a goal back, we regained our control and added further goals from Evan O Donnell, Mark Walsh and Niall McCabe to made it a comfortable win. Overall this was a very good performance from this team with all involved working hard and playing some very good passing football. Well gone lads and keep working hard. Best for Villa were Lee Crowley, Mark Walsh, Evan O Donnell, Karim Adbou & David Hobbs.
U14A League Carrick 0 Villa 11 Our U14 team had a very easy win over Carrick last Saturday morning. Goals came from Jonathon McEvoy (5), Eoin Kindlon, Kevin Flynn, Aaron Galibert. Another 3 points to add to our unbeaten run so far this season, but no doubt we will face much tougher games to come.
U16A League Villa 4 Hibs 0
A comfortable victory which sees us extend our unbeaten run to 5 games. This was a very difficult game on paper, but missing a few key players, the visitors could not manage to threaten and despite the difficult weather conditions we controlled the game throughout. We took the lead after 15 minutes when a free kick awarded for a foul on Niall O’Sullivan, was delivered from the right by Jack O’Shea, the bouncing ball was controlled and hit on the turn by Robin Spencer, 1-0. Despite creating some very good scoring opportunities we failed to add to our lead during the first half. With the wind at our backs we had far more control of the game from the start of the second half and doubled our lead when Tony O’Brien spotted the keeper of his line from right side of the box and floated a ball over the keepers head and into the top corner, 2-0. Jack Gaule added our third when sweeping home from inside the box following an Aaron Molloy corner, 3-0. We were in total control at this stage and Robin Spencer added his second when breaking through the middle and sliding the ball past the outcoming keeper, 4-0. This squad is starting to play some good football now and with competition for places showing in the great attendance at training, it is no surprise that the results are coming. Another break now from league games, as we travel the short distance to face De La Salle in two weeks time in the SFAI Cup.
Under 16 League De La Salle 1 Villa B 0
We came away disappointed from this game as we did enough to deserve something from the game. We started well with Bill Murphy coming close in the first minutes. De La Salle with the aid of a strong breeze dominated for 25 minutes but we fought back well to dominate the latter stages of the half. The home side scored during this period. We had large periods of possession in the second half and had one chance cleared off the line and another inches wide. However it was not to be our day and De La Salle took the points.
Oscar Traynor Cup
The first of the Inter League teams got underway on Sunday with the Oscar Traynor team. We were represented in the panel by Paul Omatoso and Nicky Corcoran.
