U11A Villa 6-1 Stradbally

We played Stradbally in a top of the table clash last Wed night. We played up the hill in the first half and it took some time for our team to settle. An Aaron O' Connor shot was well saved by the Stradbally keeper but Ryan Phillips followed up to open the scoring. Stradbally were well in the game at this time and a well taken free kick made the score 1 all half way through the first half. Almost immediately from the kick off Ryan Phillips ran onto a through ball to leave the Villa winning 2-1 at half time. We dominated the second half with 2 goals from Colin Barry before Ryan Phillips completed his hat trick. We passed the ball around very well in the second half. A disputed goal from David Hobbs finished the scoring leaving the full time score 6-1 to the Villa. Overall a good performance from our U11A squad but we still have a lot of work to be done on the training pitch.

Under 11B Villa 12-0 Southend

Our Under 11B team continued their good start to the season with a 12-0 win at home to Southend. This victory came on the heels of last weeks excellent 9-0 away win to Ballyduff.
The lads started at a fast pace and for the first five minutes we dominated the play and had Southend pinned in their own penalty area. During this period we created six clear chances but failed to finish them.
Five minutes later we opened the scoring and by half time we were 6 nil up. The pick of the first half goals were Dylan Walsh’s diving header, Adam Doheny’s left foot drive from the edge of the box and both of Calum O’Neil’s crafty finishes.
Several changes were made at half time and it took the team five minutes to find there rhythm again. Once they settled they started to play the brand of football which has become their trade mark. One of the half time substitutes, striker Hayden Galibert marked his home debut with a goal to follow his debut goal last week. On another night Ryan O`Higgins would have finished the night with several goals to his name, but he capped off a great performance with a well deserved goal. Dillon Griffin as ever never stopped until the final whistle and got his reward with a well taken late hat -trick. By the time the final whistle was blown we had scored another six goals to cap off a fine display.

Goalscorers: Dillon Griffin(4), Dylan Walsh(2), Ryan O’Higgins(1), Hayden Gallibert(1), Adam Doheny(1), Luke Fitzgerald(1), Calum O’Neil(2)

Best for Villa : Ryan O`Higgins & Dillon Griffin.

U11 D Bohs D 0-1 Villa D

In what was our hardest game this season we came out on top by 1 goal to nil scored by Daniel Sheehan in the last kick of the game. We possibly should have won this game easier but some bad luck and good goal keeping kept the score to 0-0 up to the last minute
Best for Villa- Conor Sheehan, Craig Dunphy , Dylan Breslin, Ryan Pepper

U-12 League Villa A 4 - 2 De La Salle

Our U-12A team recorded their first win of the season when they won a hard
fought battle away to De La Salle on Saturday morning. Like our previous game
we started slowly and were soon a goal behind when we were caught square at the
back and were pushed off the ball too easily. Soon after we conceded a similar
goal again being pushed off the ball too easily. We created some chances in the first
half but these were well saved by the home goalkeeper. Just after half time we made
some changes and started to dominate the game. We started our fight back when
Evan O Donnell headed home at the far post from a Mark Walsh corner. Five minutes
later we were level when David Tyrell scrambled home from close range after a David
Hobbs shot had hit the post. We kept attacking and went ahead with 10 minutes to go
when Niall McCabe got on the end of a long ball and beat two defenders before rounding
the keeper and slotting home, a great individual goal. With 5 minutes remaining we
wrapped up the game when Niall McCabe picked up the ball and unleashed a 25 yard
strike to the top corner of the goal.
Overall we produced a great second half fight back but we must learn to play for 60 minutes.
Best for Villa were C.Brown, M.Walsh, N. McCabe, T.Whelan, D.Hobbs, E. O Donnell

U 13 A Villa 3-2 Bohs

What a game, two very evenly matched teams. Villa started the better with midfield of Conor Coad, Gavin O'Donovan ,Kenneth McEvoy, Dave Cooley getting the better of Jack Hale , Jason Keane , Craig McLawerence & Patrick Fitzgerald but dspite the pressure no goals. Conor Coad hit the bar , the rebound hit the post and was eventually cleared of the line by a defender. Then it was Bohs turn to attack but their new signing Mark O'Keeffe was well marshelled by Austin Gleeson. A brilliant move involving Walter Dunphy , Jamie Cross , Christian Cullen saw the ball worked quickly across the park and up the wing, Cooley crossed and Danny Ahern working hard won a corner. Quick corner, a great cross from Cooley and Conor Coad slotted a great header home from 10 yards. But Bohs came back and a freekick from Mark McManus brought a good save from Brandon( who had another good game in goal ) .However the ball came straight back and from a subsequent free ,Bohs scored ,one all. Darren Finn battled hard with Conor McArdle and we got some half chances , Kenneth ,( following some good work by Gavin ) , beat Bohs defender Tim O'Sullivan and crossed , Darren took one touch to take the sting out of the cross and unleashed a superb volley into the top corner, Daniel Connolly in Bohs goal had no chance ( already an early contender for goal of the season). Half Time 2-1 to Villa .
2nd half and we knew Bohs would come at us , we continued to play good football , with our defence playing well except for 1 or 2 occassions when they seemed to forget each others names !! We controlled the midfield and our wingers were creating some chances but we failed to convert any of these .Walter Croke came on and played well , nice touches but the inevitable happened , firstly an unusual referee decision for a free, and from goal mouth scramble Bohs equalised ,, and did they celebrate..2-2 and only 6 minutes left, But this Villa team has shown us before that they are not short of guts and never give up .,We played controlled football , kept our shape and Danny was fouled out wide . Dave Cooley took charge and sent in a rocket of a free kick , it hit the cross bar and rebounded ,Gavin O'Donovan controlled it before firing into the roof of the net and did the crowd go wild ( well on the Villa side anyway) 3-2 to Villa but it still wasn't over ,Bohs got another free kick on edge of box, the Villa wall stood strong and blocked the free BUT the referee made them take it again , however we held firm and the ball was cleared , final whistle, 3-2 relief all round!!!

U13B Villa 4-2 Johnville

Our U13B team had a good win over Johnville last Saturday. We opened the scoring with a cracker from 30 yards by Darryl Hennessy. Our second came from Enmemd Gashi, the third from Jordan Mercer and the fourth was a Johnville og.
The team are having a good start to the season with best for Villa :
Ronan Cleere at left back, Conor Mc Gettigan in Midfield and David Tyrrell.

Under 15 Mooncoin 2-1 Villa B

We started brightly in this game and went ahead after six minutes when Aaron Galibert raced past the defence and cooly slotted home. We had a couple of other chances in the first half but it was the home side who levelled catching us on the break. An even second half saw few chances and just as we looked to be getting a share of the points, Mooncoin scored in the last five minutes.

U16 A Villa 2 -1 Tramore

Our first home game of the season and a hard earned three points.
We started the game well with a strong breeze at our backs and put together some good passages of play. Robin and Jack up front were moving well and on 8 minutes we took the lead when a ball played through on the right side of the box was met and hit first time by Jack Gaule into the bottom left corner.
We took control of the game and dominated the first period. Tim Aude made two excellent chances from the right wing, which Robin Spencer would normally have accepted, but despite creating several chances, we failed to add to our score and went in 1-0 at half time.
Playing into the breeze we needed to defend well as the visiting side opted for a direct style of play which helped them put us on the back foot.
We conceded several corners which were all dealt with until on 55 minutes a poor headed clearance, which only reached the edge of the box, was fired back into the net to level the scores.
At this point we were under some pressure and we badly needed to work hard and keep possession into the breeze. we did this which restricted the visitors attacks and we gradually forced our way back into the game and finished very strongly in the last 10 minutes.
With four minutes remaining, a superb cross from Niall O'Sullivan was cleared to the edge of the box and Paul Power took a touch and fired into the bottom left to secure A very valuable 3 points.
They says it's a team game and this was proved with all our outfield players used and excellent performances from everyone involved. Well Done lads.
