U11E League
De La Salle B 1 Villa D 9

A very good start by our youngest side. Playing their first game they put in a very good display playing some very good football.
We scored early on through Dean Philips and added 3 more before half time by Kyle Smith, Craig Dunphy and Nicholas Byrne. Lots of changes at half time and further goals from Harry Walsh, Craig Dunphy, David Walsh, Jack Cassidy and Sean Breslin.
Best for Villa : Ryan Pepper, Corey Gallagher, Warren Sauvage and Dylan Breslin.

U11A League
Carrick 1 Villa 2

We started our season with an away game in Carrick. We started the game very brightly and dominated early possession. We scored 2 early goals from Aaron O' Connor of which the 2nd goal was a fine strike from the edge of the 18 yard box. We went on to create other chances with David Hobbs and Ryan Phillips coming close. Just on the stroke of half time Carrick pulled a goal back with a very good goal from a 25 yard free kick. The 2nd half was a different game than the first half with Carrick pushing forward looking for the equaliser. Our defence stood firm ably lead by Greg Milne and Tommy Power. We had a couple of chances to kill of the game in the last 10 mins but the score finished 2-1 to the Villa. Overall a good start to the season for the Villa U11A squad.

U13A League
Tramore 2 Villa 3

First game of season against a very good Tramore side . Only 1 goal between these teams in the 2 meetings last year. Villa started with some new faces in the squad but took a while to settle . After 15 mins we were 2-0 down . Both due to Villa errors but well capitalised on by the opposition , a back pass, for the first one and then after Brandon made a superb save the loose ball cannoned off the striker and into the net. This woke the Villa lads up Walter Dunphy , Gavin started to get better of strikers , Jamie won tackles and distributed the ball and Christian cut off the supply from the left. Midfield came more into the game and Conor and Kareem( playing his first game for the team) began to win the battle .Kenneth made 2 good runs up the wing and David Cooley( Capt. for the season ) worked hard on the other side but we could not get quality ball into our 2 strikers feet and as such Walter Croke and Danny were unable to create any chances. with 5 mins remaining we won a corner kick , Kenneth and David worked a short corner and a great delivery saw Conor bury the header in the top corner .. a ray of hope. Half time Tramore 2 Villa 1. We started the 2nd half a lot better , Kenneth .Walter C went close but this is a good Tramore team and we had to defend bravely as well .Austin and Darren came on and within 5 mins we had equalised from a goalmouth scramble Conor poking the ball home. The game ebbed both ways Tramore creating chances at one end and Villa at the other.
Injuries saw Mark Walsh ( new signing ) come in at right full. He played exceptionally well for his first game with us and not his normal position . Some nice touches from Evan O'Donnell as well .Just as it looked like a draw , a good move down the left hand side saw the ball drop over Tramore's right full , David Cooley playing a captain's role somehow managed to volley it from a very tight angle in to the net 3-2 .Make no mistake we got out of jail here and this Tramore team will be there or thereabouts at the end of the season.
A word for Niall McCabe who was our 6th Sub but we were unable to use him , he is playing well in training and will be pushing our established front runners for a place throughout the season . Well done to everyone for the fight back. Next match versus Dungarvan 6th Sept 2007

U14A League
Bohs 1 Villa 5

Our U14’s gave an excellent display of football last Saturday morning in Wadding Park. The scoring was openend by Aaron Galibert with a beautiful left legged shot from the edge of the box. Jonathan McEvoy added the second just before half time and got the third just a few minutes into the second half. Some excellent play from the midfield of Eoin Kindlon and Barry Power creating chances galore. Bohs got one back and were also awarded a penalty which our keeper Marc Weldon saved brilliantly. Conor Coad scored an excellent header for our fourth and Kenneth McEvoy finished our scoring with a fine shot from a David Cooley cross.
A very good performance from the defence again Adam Potter having a stormer of a game.

Under 15 League Seaview 1 Villa B 1

A determined performance in Annestown in a game where scoring chances were at a premium. The first half saw Robbie Lannon and Barry Power contest a mid-field battle and Aaron Galibert unlucky with a couple of efforts. We were threatening from set pieces and with six minutes remaining Aaron's corner was turned in by a Seaview defender. Disappointingly we conceded immediately from the kick off and the game ended level.

U16A Bohs 0 - 0 Villa

Due to us not playing last weekend, we had a tough opening to this year's league campaign with a trip to our near neighbours.

Played in excellent conditions the game was tight and tense affair, with no quarter given or asked. Our back four remained very solid and prevented the home side from any real scoring opportunities during the first half. We also found it hard against a well organised home team and our best chance came from a corner, which was headed wide.

The second half was much the same with two well matched teams cancelling each other out and a share of the points was probably the right outcome. This will be an interesting league, which I am sure both teams will play their part in.

Our new arrival from Germany, Tim Aude, made is debut for the club during the second half and we wish him all the best for the coming season.

Also on the injury list, we hope to have Dylan Mernagh and Thomas Croke back shortly and more long term, we hope to see Shammy on the road to recovery soon.

Under 16 League Abbeyside 0 Villa B 6

A good win on the road for the 16B team. Danny Miles set us on the way with a superb strike. Thomas O'Brien headed the second and Kieran McGettigan was first to react to give us a three goal half-time lead. Further goals in the second half from Conall O'Brien, an excellent Brian McDonald free-kick and Mark McDonald completed the scoring. Nicholas Gallwey produced a fine save from a penalty to maintain our clean sheet.

Premier League Villa 2 Wat. Crystal 1

We got off to a flyer in this game and in truth we could have had it wrapped up at half-time. Paul Omatoso headed home from a corner after five minutes and was on the end of a superb move to score the second after twenty five minutes following good work from Ian Cantwell and Des Mullett. We hit the post three times in the half with Glenn O'Neill, Des and Paul unlucky not to add to the scoreline. Chances for both sides in the second half went astray before Crystal pulled a goal back with five minutes to go.

Congrats

Well done to Kenneth & Jonathan McEvoy on winning the News & Star Players of the Year under 12 & 13 respectively for last season. The club is very proud of the two brothers and also well done to Jonathan on his return trip to Manchester City last week.
