There was very little football played in these months with constant bad weather causing disruption.
PREMIER
FAI Junior Cup action dominated the scedule for the Premier team. We started with a 2-1 win over Ferrybank with Glenn O'Neill scoring twice, his first a superb volley from 30 yards. Grannagh were next on the road and they were defeated 2-0 in Ozier Park putting us through to the National last 64 draw. We were drawn at home to Glenview Stars from Sligo and we produced an excellent display to win 6-0. Glenn O'Neill opened the scoring from the penalty spot before Ian Cantwell made it 2-0. A three goal spurt early in the second half, two from Ian completing his hat-trick and one from Des Mullett. John Nolan scored late on to wrap up a good win and a place in the last 32.
JUNIOR
The 1B team secured seven points from three matches. We defeated Tramore 4-2, Adam Gallagher scoring a hat-trick and Wayne O'Halloran getting the other. A 2-1 win away to Crusaders came courtesy of goals from Paddy Fitzgerald and Kevin Jordan. Eoin Cooley scored to give us a 1-1 draw away to Abbeyside. The 4th Division team suffered their first defeat of the season when they played St. Josephs away. The game ended 3-2 with George Fennelly and Pat Burke on the scoresheet. George was also on target in a 1-1 draw away to Carrick.

The A team progressed in the SFAI Cup with a hard fought 3-1 win over Carrick at Connors Park. Tommy Power opened the scoring five minutes into the second half. Niall McCabe restored our lead after Carrick had equalised and Karim Abdou completed the scoring late in the game. These sides met a week earlier in the league and we also won 3-1 with Evan O'Donnell, Karim Abdou and Niall McCabe scoring.
We advanced to the National last 32 stages of the competition with a good away win in Cahir Park. Tadhg Whelan, Evan O'Donnell and Niall McCabe gave us a 3-0 lead but two set pieces gave Cahir a way back and we had a nervous few minutes at the end before seeing the game through on a 3-2 scoreline.
The B team maintained good league form with a 5-0 win away to Park Rangers. After a scoreless first half, Aaron O'Connor scored twice as did Jordan Mercer and Robert Ryan finished an excellent team move to complete the scoring. They also beat Kilmacow 2-1 with Aaron scoring both.
UNDER 13
The A team had a good win against Clonmel Celtic in the SFAI Cup. Mark Hobbs headed home from a corner after two minutes, ten minutes later Kevin Flynn made it 2-0 and Eoin Kindlon's free-kick made it 3-0 shortly after. The second half saw two goals from Jonathan McEvoy and one from Kenneth McEvoy to complete a 6-1 win.
This was followed by a home game against Clonmel Town. After playing two epic games against this opposition last season, everybody knew that a tense morning was in store. We started the game well and had a couple of chances. Clonmel got back into the game without threatening and we deserved the lead just on half-time when Jonathan McEvoy’s superb cross was touched home by Conor Coad. Clonmel Town had some good possession in the second half, and equally deserved their equaliser when it came. Further chances came and went at both ends but with no addition to the score extra time was played. Overall, we had slightly the better of extra time with some half chances, but the inevitable happened and for the third time in twelve months we faced a penalty shoot-out between these teams.
Jonathan McEvoy hammered home our first, followed by Adam Potter and Mark Hobbs. With Marc Weldon saving two and one going wide, we won 3-1 on penalties to go into the last 32 of this competition.
The B team played a 3-3 draw in Johnville, a game which is of significance as all the goals came from our female players - Jessica Gleeson (2) and Beserta Ajeti.
UNDER 14
The A team had a big win over Dungarvan to progress in the SFAI Cup. The B team recorded a 4-1 win over Kilmacow. Cian O'Hara opened the scoring before Robbie Lannon scored twice in the first half. Kevin Flynn scored the fourth to gain a welcome three points.
UNDER 15
The A side defeated Bunclody 5-0 in the SFAI Cup. Jack Gaule scored in the first minute and further goals from Tony O'Brien, Paul Power and Robin Spencer (2) gave us a good win. They made the last 32 stages with a 3-1 away to Wat. Crystal - Robin Spencer, Seamus Byrne and Jack Gaule. In the league the A team beat Bohs 2-1 with Aaron Molloy and Robin Spencer on target. The B were unlucky to go down 2-1 to the same opposition but had a 3-1 home win over Southend - Stephen Vereker and Barry Crossan (2). |
