27/05/2007 UNDER 15 CUP WINNERS - 11C TAKE TITLE

U-11A LEAGUE
Villa A 1 v 0 Bohs A

Our U-11A team bounced back from their cup final disappointment with a fine
win over a good Bohs team in Connors Park on Wednesday evening. Played
on an ideal evening for football both sides played some very good football in an
evenly contested match. The first half was even with both defences playing well
to restrict the number of goal scoring chances. However, after a series of corners,
one from which we struck the cross bar, we took the lead midway through the half
when a well delivered corner from the right by Tommy Power was superbly headed
home by Karim Abdou from 6 yards out. The game remained even for the remainder
of the half The second half was more of the same with both sides looking threatening.
As the half wore on we went looking for the second goal but could not find a way past
the visitor defence, and with minutes remaining Bohs were denied when Adam Donovan
saved superbly from 20 yards. A very evenly contested match by two good footballing sides.
Best for Villa were Adam Donovan, Austin Gleeson, Tadgh Whelan, Karim Abdou & David Hobbs

PROPERTY PARTNERS U 11D LEAGUE
VILLA C 6 DE LA SALLE B 2

Congrats to our youngsters who won the U11D league last Saturday morning with two fixtures left to play.
Leading 4-1 at half time we added 2 more in the second half to complete an easy win and so maintain our unbeaten run. We went a goal down after 5 minutes but that was our only scare. We equalised 5 minutes later through Luke Fitzgerald and Daniel Curtin scored the second from a corner. Luke Fitzgerald scored his second and our third before Kieran Rooney scored our fourth to leave us leading 4-1 at half time.
De La Salle got a goal back in the second half but goals from Calum O Neill and Ardman Gashi killed the game off.
Well done to all the team
Best for Villa :- Ryan O Higgins, Nathan Ryan, Dylan Walsh and Kieran Rooney.

U15A CUP FINAL
VILLA 1 BOHS 1
(Villa won 5-4 on pens)

Our U15’s brought our 2nd Cup back to Connors Park on Saturday last when they defeated Bohs in the RSC. A keenly contested final which stayed nil all in the first half, but with both teams matching each other all over the park. We scored first when Stephen Flynn half volleyed a corner ball from Aaron Molloy into the right bottom corner of the Bohs net shortly into the second half. Bohs equalised a while later and the scoreline was level at full time. We lost Paul Power and Seamus Byrne through injuries and we would like to thank the Civil Defence for their help with Paul Power who had to be brought to WRH - we wish Paul a speedy recovery These were 2 big losses for us but John Dee & Kevin Feeley did well when they came on. Extra time was played but both teams failed to convert their chances with Niall O Sullivan having 2 excellent opportunities for Villa.
And so to another Cup Final Penalty Shoot out and it was Villa who came out on top this time Our penalty scorers were Jack O Shea, John Dee, Robin Spencer, Tony O Brien and Niall O Sullivan. Robert Bresnan did very well on goal to deny 2 Bohs pens.
Best for Villa : Eric Marsh and Brian Nolan’s (Bohs) performance on the day deserves a special mention.
Well done to all the players and also to managers Ace & Dessie.

Congrats to De La Salle College 1st Years on their recent National Schools Final win in Athlone when they defeated Summerhill from Sligo 2 Nil. A great achievement and their 3rd title in a row. Villa players involved were Adam Potter, Eoin Kindlon, Conor Coad, Aaron Galibert, Daniel Ahern, Barry Power, Chris Grant, Walter Dunphy, Ben O Dwyer, Nicholas McGuire.
